Town Hall Meeting for Hitch School Bump-Outs July 31

Town Hall Meeting for Hitch School Bump-Outs July 31

This spring, my office submitted an application with Commissioner Bridget Gainer to receive up to $75,000 for an infrastructure project in the ward. I am pleased to announce that our application to install bump-outs at the intersection of Byrn Mawr and Austin was approved.

Every day, children cross this busy intersection to access Hitch Elementary School. While there is a crossing guard on duty throughout the school year, my office still receives numerous complaints about people speeding through the area to reach their destination.

A bump-out extends …

Starbucks to Open at Former Brown’s Chicken in Jeff Park

After years of soliciting Starbucks to enter the robust markets of the 45th Ward, it is with great pleasure that I announce their plans to open a new Jefferson Park location in the former Brown’s Chicken building located at 5601 W. Lawrence.

Brown’s Chicken closed their doors in January. It didn’t take long for Starbucks to become interested in the site due to its proximity to the Jefferson Park Transit Center and the prime intersection that is already home to Jewel, BeefBelly, Molly & Myles …

CHICAGO — Even if you don’t hear the baby grand piano now sitting in the middle of the Six Corners Shopping District, odds are that you’ll see it.

The Six Corners Association re-opened its “people space” this month featuring a baby grand piano decorated by mural artist Tony Passero, inviting passersby to sit and play a tune.

The chunk of parking spaces in front of Josi’s Frozen Yogurt Cafe, 4032 N. Milwaukee Ave., had already included the piano, donated by Topher Allan Music, during its trial run as a marked-off pedestrian area last …

Welcome Weston’s Coffee & Tap Co. to Jeff Park!

Welcome Weston’s Coffee & Tap Co. to Jeff Park!

Wonder what work is being done across from the Jefferson Park transit center at 4872 N. Milwaukee? I am pleased to welcome Weston’s Coffee & Tap Co. to the neighborhood! They recently obtained permits and are working on interior renovations ahead of their mid-August opening.

With thousands of thirsty commuters and residents passing through every day, the owner recognized the building’s proximity to the city’s second busiest transit hub outside of the Loop as an ideal location to serve coffee, craft beer, and deli sliced sub-sandwiches.

Weston’s is a …

Zoning Committee Approves Jefferson Place

Today, the zoning committee approved the Jefferson Place development located at Lipps and Ainslie. I am proud to usher in this mixed-use, transit-oriented development directly adjacent to the city’s second busiest transit hub outside of the Loop.

By increasing density in a responsible way, Jefferson Place will support neighboring businesses such as the Copernicus Center, the Ed Paschke Art Center, the Gift Theater, Windy City Musical Theater, Gorilla Sushi, Weston’s Coffee and Tap Co, and others.

Jefferson Place will help breathe new life into downtown Jefferson Park …
