Welcome Weston’s Coffee & Tap Co. to Jeff Park!

Welcome Weston’s Coffee & Tap Co. to Jeff Park!

Wonder what work is being done across from the Jefferson Park transit center at 4872 N. Milwaukee? I am pleased to welcome Weston’s Coffee & Tap Co. to the neighborhood! They recently obtained permits and are working on interior renovations ahead of their mid-August opening.

With thousands of thirsty commuters and residents passing through every day, the owner recognized the building’s proximity to the city’s second busiest transit hub outside of the Loop as an ideal location to serve coffee, craft beer, and deli sliced sub-sandwiches.

Zoning Committee Approves Jefferson Place

Today, the zoning committee approved the Jefferson Place development located at Lipps and Ainslie. I am proud to usher in this mixed-use, transit-oriented development directly adjacent to the city’s second busiest transit hub outside of the Loop.

By increasing density in a responsible way, Jefferson Place will support neighboring businesses such as the Copernicus Center, the Ed Paschke Art Center, the Gift Theater, Windy City Musical Theater, Gorilla Sushi, Weston’s Coffee and Tap Co, and others.

Jefferson Place will help breathe new life into downtown Jefferson Park …

Work to Begin on Jefferson Park Master Plan

Work to Begin on Jefferson Park Master Plan

Big news in the effort to revitalize Jefferson Park! The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) has awarded a contract to Teska Associates to develop a master plan to enhance the area surrounding the Jefferson Park Transit Center.

I first announced the effort to craft a master plan in the fall of 2015, when I secured funding from the RTA to cover 80% – or $125,000 – of the costs of the analysis. The remaining costs for the master plan will be covered using funds from the Jefferson Park Tax Increment Financing …

Several development proposals near the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue, Irving Park Road and Cicero Avenue and the role that subsidies could play in the success of some of those projects were discussed at the Oct. 6 meeting of the Six Corners Association.

“Six Corners is on the cusp of major development,” association executive director Kelli Wefenstette said at the association’s community leaders roundtable luncheon. “In a year from now, it could look drastically different than it does now.”

Those projects call for …

Planning for the Future in Jefferson Park

Planning for the Future in Jefferson Park

“The community and commercial district are ready for a strong and guiding vision to rejuvenate an area that is on the cusp of vibrant economic growth and major revitalization,” Arena said.

The master plan will focus on the business district centered around Lawrence and Milwaukee avenues, where two major developments are working their way through the city bureaucracy with Arena’s support. One would build 39 apartments and 10 shops on Lawrence Avenue, while the other would build a 12-story tower next to the Jefferson Park Transit Center.

The …
