CFPTA Training Sessions Begin in February

The Chicago Police & Firefighter Training Academy (CPFTA) will be hosting information sessions throughout the city of Chicago during the months of February, March, and April.

Sophomore high school students expected to graduate in 2020 can apply for a unique partnership opportunity between Chicago Public Schools (CPS)4 and the CPFTA between February 1 and 5:00 pm on May 1.

Students will attend class two days a week from 4:30 to 7:30 pm at the Chicago Police Academy or the Fire Academy, participate in a two year after-school program to learn about a career in public safety, have hands=on classroom and fitness training with police and fire CPFTA instructors, will have an opportunity to receive EMT-B certification and unarmed security 20-hour certification, will have the opportunity for to apply for a paid summer internship with CPD or the Chicago Fire Department, and will receive preference in being considered for the Chicago Police Cadet Program.
