Alderman Arena Announces Proposed Brew Pub and First Ciderhouse in Chicago

:: ALDERMAN JOHN ARENA [45TH WARD] ANNOUNCES PROPOSED BREW PUB AND FIRST CIDERHOUSE IN CHICAGO AT FORMER MASONIC TEMPLE IN OLD IRVING PARK ::

CHICAGO – On December 16th, 2014 Alderman Arena will host and moderate a community meeting for Eris Brewery and Ciderhouse proposed in the Old Irving Park community. The meeting will take place at the Irving Park Baptist Church – 4401 West Irving Park Road – at 7:30 p.m.

The public meeting is the result of a year-long effort by the Alderman’s office working with the local community (Old Irving Park Association), the adjacent church (Harvest Christian Community Center), and City and State officials.

“I am very excited to bring this opportunity before the community. This level of investment shows that businesses see opportunity throughout the 45th Ward. I am proud of the work that my office accomplished as it would not be possible without a partnership with neighbors, community leaders and my counterparts in Springfield,” said Arena.

In collaboration with State Senator Iris Martinez [20], State Representative Jaime Andrade, Jr. [40] and City officials, Alderman Arena’s office successfully navigated both the State’s and City’s legislative processes for this major development that is sure to help revitalize the neighborhood.

The construction and passage of a bill to amend the State of Illinois Liquor Control Act of 1934, as well as the removal of an ordinance governing packaged good moratoriums along the 4200 block of West Irving Park Road, has paved the way for the re-adaptive use of this building and a $5 million investment to take place in our community.

The creators of Eris Brewery and Ciderhouse, LLC, who have had a combined 20 years experience in hospitality, craft brewing and cider industries, “are very excited to combine two of the fastest growing segments in the beverage industry at a location that allows the community to gather and socialize.”

“This last year has been a tremendous ride for us. The support and encouragement from Alderman Arena’s office, OIPA, and our new neighbors has been amazing. We look forward to meeting more of the community on the 16th.”
